Connecting to the Sunburst MCP Server
Connecting Sunburst to ChatGPT and Claude
Sunburst by Sisu can be added to ChatGPT and Claude as a connector, letting you ask questions about your Sisu data and take action on it without leaving the chat.
Once connected, you can ask anything you would regularly ask Sunburst from your local LLM.
The connector has access to all of the same data as Sunburst inside of Sisu. This covers your production and pipeline numbers, transactions, activities and at-bats, lead sources and ROI, goals and benchmarks, commissions and expenses, tasks and upcoming dates, leaderboards, the Sisu knowledge base, and more!
Before you start
You'll need:
- An active Sunburst subscription on at least one of your Sisu teams. If no team on your account has Sunburst, you'll see a message explaining this when you try to connect, with a link to book a demo. Your team admin can add Sunburst.
- Your Sisu sign-in details. You sign in to Sisu as part of connecting. You are not entering your Sisu password into ChatGPT or Claude, and neither of them ever sees it.
The server address you'll need is the same for both platforms:
https://mcp.sisu.co/mcp
Setup differs between the two platforms, so follow the section for whichever you use.
ChatGPT
Step 1 — Open the New Plugin window
- Go to Plugins.
- Click the + button at the top right.
- In the New Plugin window, click Create MCP App (bottom left). Ignore the drag-and-drop area above it.
Step 2 — Fill in the form
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Icon (optional) | Download the Sunburst icon and upload it here. PNG only, max 10 KB — the file linked here is sized to fit. |
| Name | Sunburst by Sisu |
| Description (optional) | Something like Ask questions about your Sisu data and update records. |
| Connection | Leave the toggle on Server URL (not Tunnel — that's for a server on your own machine). |
| (URL field) | https://mcp.sisu.co/mcp |
| Authentication | OAuth |
You don't need to open Advanced OAuth settings.
Step 3 — Acknowledge the warning and create
ChatGPT shows a warning that custom MCP servers introduce risk, because OpenAI hasn't reviewed the server. This appears for every custom MCP server, not just this one.
Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create.
Step 4 — Sign in to Sisu
A Sisu sign-in window opens. Sign in with your Sisu account.
You'll then see a screen headed "ChatGPT wants to connect to Sunburst" listing what it will be able to do. Review it and approve.
Step 5 — Use it
Start a new conversation, add Sunburst from the tools menu, and ask something like
"What's my pending volume this month?"
When you ask it to change something, ChatGPT will ask you to confirm before it acts.
On a Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspace? Your workspace may route this through
admin settings instead, where an admin adds the app once and publishes it for everyone.
If you don't see the Plugins page described above, check with your workspace admin.
Claude
What's supported
Custom connectors work on Claude on the web and Claude Desktop, on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector.
How you add it depends on your plan:
- Pro and Max — you add it yourself.
- Team and Enterprise — an owner adds it once for the organization, then each member connects their own Sisu account.
If you're on Pro or Max
-
Go to Customize → Connectors.
-
Click +, then Add custom connector.
-
In Name, enter
Sunburst by Sisu. This is the label shown in your connectors list. -
In the address field below it, enter the server URL:
https://mcp.sisu.co/mcp -
Click Continue.
-
Click Connect on the new Sunburst connector. A Sisu sign-in window opens.
-
Sign in with your Sisu account. You'll see a screen headed "Claude wants to connect to Sunburst" listing what it will be able to do — review it and approve.
If you're on Team or Enterprise
The owner does this once:
-
Go to Organization settings → Connectors.
-
Click Add.
-
Hover over Custom, then choose Web.
-
Give it a name —
Sunburst by Sisu— and enter the server URL:https://mcp.sisu.co/mcp -
Click Add to save it.
Then each member connects their own account:
- Go to Customize → Connectors.
- Find Sunburst in the list.
- Click Connect, sign in with your Sisu account, and approve the request.
Everyone signs in individually and sees only their own data.
Using it in a conversation
Connectors are enabled per conversation. In a chat, click the + button at the lower left, choose Connectors, and turn on Sunburst.
Then just ask — "How did my team do on appointments last week?"
Troubleshooting
"Sunburst isn't on any team in this account" when trying to connect
No team on your Sisu account has a Sunburst subscription yet, so there's nothing to connect to. Use the Book a Demo button on that screen, or ask your team admin to add Sunburst. Once it's active, come back and connect again.
The sign-in window opens but nothing happens
Check that pop-ups aren't blocked for ChatGPT or Claude, then try again.
It connected, but Sunburst doesn't appear in a chat
In Claude, enable it per conversation with the + button → Connectors. In ChatGPT, pick it from the tools menu, or mention it in your prompt.
It says I don't have access to something
The connector uses your own Sisu permissions. If you can't see a report or edit a record in Sisu, you won't be able to through the connector either. Your team admin can adjust your Sisu permissions.
You're asked to sign in to Sisu again
This is normal occasionally — sign-ins last for one year, and are reset any time you change your password or go a month without using the connector. Reconnecting from the connector settings restores it. If you're being asked repeatedly, please let us know.
Removing the connector
ChatGPT — go to Plugins, find Sunburst, and remove it. On a Business, Enterprise,
or Edu workspace, an admin may need to do this from workspace settings.
Claude — go to Customize → Connectors (or Organization settings → Connectors
for Team and Enterprise), find Sunburst, and click Remove or use the three-dot menu.
Removing the connector revokes its access to your Sisu data.
